MISSION



The Institute for International Urban Development is committed to the documentation and evaluation of emerging urban development trends. Its action research is structured to contribute to the understanding of complex urban dynamics and the drivers of change and transformations in cities and regions. Its technical assistance projects focus on strategy, process, actions and outcomes to assist local institutions in managing their growing responsibility in a decentralized system of governance. Its international education programs are designed to help local officials acquire the skills and the cutting-edge tools for effective urban planning and management in a challenging context. Dialogue with network partners furthers the integration of national and local development policy and an urban agenda combining economic development with concerns for environmental quality, social inclusion and sustainability.
