Research Associate

Christa Lee-Chuvala is an urban planner specializing in community-based development. Her research focus at the Institute has been on the impact of migration and remittances in Latin America, and particularly women's experiences of migration. She is also part of a team working on a regional development project in the Province of Kars in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. She received her master's degree in Urban Planning from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design where she worked on two award-winning collaborative urban planning projects in Tepotzotlan, Mexico  and Waltham, Massachusetts, USA. Prior to coming to the Institute, she worked with a grassroots community-based organization in Buffalo, NY where she led youth employment training programs, afterschool programs, and advocated for youth and their families.
