Affiliated with the Harvard Graduate School of Design since 1989, John Driscoll was a Lecturer in Urban Planning (1997-2001); Senior Research Associate of the Center for Urban Development Studies (1989-2005); and its Assistant Director (1997-2005). Since June 2005 he has had a research appointment at the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies. He is currently on a leave of absence from the Joint Center and is the Director of the International Centre for Local and Regional Development located in Armagh, Northern Ireland (www.iclrd.org). He has extensive experience in project development, implementation and assessment, structuring institutional frameworks for planning and implementation, and capacity building through training and technical assistance. Working closely with local  teams in  different cities, he has assisted in the  formulation of city development, planning and local economic development strategies, community based development projects and large-scale neighborhood regeneration projects and has conducted numerous urban program policy reviews and research studies. He has over 30 years of cross-regional experience in the United States, the EU, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
