JANINE SHINOKI CLIFFORD, M.Arch., M.Des (Harvard), D.Des (Harvard), AIA, AICP, ASID.

 Janine Shinoki Clifford is a practicing architect, urban designer and President of  Clifford Planning LLC, the planning entity of a larger architectural firm located in  Honolulu, Hawaii, that focuses on community planning and housing.  In the past  decade, her role as the Principal-In-Charge of Design and Planning has included  more than 15 new communities encompassing 500 acres of land development and  more than 2,000 single and multi-family housing units.

 Janine Clifford is currently engaged in the design and planning of Palolo Valley  Homes, the first State owned multifamily project in Hawaii to transition into a  private  non-profit entity utilizing low-income housing tax credits; a new 80 acre  planned pedestrian oriented community for a 250,000 acre ranch; and the repositioning of a 1,000 acre planned community along the economically depressed coast of the west-end of Oahu, Hawaii. 

She is a licensed architect in Honolulu, New York and New South Wales and is a certified planner and interior designer.  Janine is co-editor of Pohaku: The Art and Architecture of Stonework in Hawaii, published October 2003.
