LUIS VALENZUELA, D.Des. (Harvard University), Master in Architecture (Universidad Católica de Chile)


Luis Valenzuela received his Masters Degree in Architecture from the Universidad Católica de Chile and has also undertaken graduate studies in the School of Architecture of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Since 1998 he has been a member of the faculty at the Universidad Católica School of Architecture. Several of his professional works and competitions have been published in Chile. In 2002, he was part of a team that won the second prize of the Urban Design of Portal Cerrillos for the Bicentennial of Santiago and in 2003 his team won an honor prize for an urban design competition in Singapore. He recently graduated as Doctor of Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, at which he was a Fulbright scholar, teaching fellow of several architecture studios, and editor of the book Bringing Harvard Yards to the River. His doctoral dissertation was entitled Mass Housing and Urbanization on the Road to Modernization in Santiago of Chile, 1930-1960.
